The sandman, making his worldwide rounds putting children to sleep, arrives at a home where a distraught Italian father can’t get his fussy son to quiet down. The Sandman takes the child, and his pet dog, on a magical trip to Candyland where the boy meets the Candy King. The King leads a parade of the candy workers and gives the boy a tour of the candy factory complete with samples. When the boy has eaten so much candy he has grown chubby, the King tries to give him a dose of castor oil. The boy and his dog run off chased by the king but discover the whole adventure was a dream. Ends with the boy waking, fussing, and the father pacing the floor again.
